FANZÍN Palettes Please

There is more to Thailand than the Thailand you think you know. Stepping away from the bustling city streets to unfamiliar corners, there are bursts of colour everywhere, from weathered walls to towering mid-rise flats. While these palettes appeared playfully random, they were the very threads of the city’s soul, woven into its textures, habits and everyday life. What began as a simple curiosity quickly evolved into an exhilarating obsession. This led to Aperture Brought Me Here, a minimalistic photography quest that captures my deep appreciation for striking city palettes through geometric shapes, abstract patterns and textures. The focus is on a distinctive architectural quality that reveals a hidden urban landscape through bold colours, spontaneous charm, and rich cultural nuance. These vivid hues and unpolished beauty emerge not as a dull background, but as the unexpected spirit of the place. This profound journey follows the rhythms of place, presence and meaning, creating palettes that please not just the eye, but the soul.

The city may seem messy and chaotic, but within that disorder lies a subtle, visual rhythm—a hidden order just waiting to be noticed. Over time, layers of signage, paint, rust and repairs build up, forming a textured surface that quietly records a city’s history and memory. While the choice of facade colours might seem random, their accidental combinations often create striking patterns. In this layered cityscape, colour becomes a language of its own. By intentionally composing a shot, these colours are about more than just looking good. They serve
cultural, spiritual and practical purposes, capturing the essence of a vibrant cultural tapestry. By focusing on the interplay of colour and form, it transforms into something abstract and expressive; revealing the unexpected beauty, rhythm and poetry found in the chaos of Thai life.
