We make gestures all the time. Sometimes to replace words, others just as a habit. Often we make gestures without thinking, without grace or elegance and others are planned like a chess move after a lot of thinking. But what is inside a gesture? Movement? Emotion? Ideas? Impulse? Dance? The gesture made by us, is it really ours or is it a mix of our genetic heritage with the environment where we were born and grew up in?
Is there a repertoire of common gestures that are understood all over the world – like a lingua franca – and others that hold secrets and stories that come to us in the shape of gestures so they don’t get lost – like an ancient secret code. And which was the most beautiful gesture you saw?
